Si Jin Review 似锦剧评

Finally finish watching this adaptation of  the web novel "The Brocaded Tale of the Girl Si" (似锦) by Willow Leaves In Winter (冬天的柳叶). 
 I wish they had follow the source material more. Some of the stories are quite griping. The acting, props and cinematography is great. Plotwise, there are some wonderful and poignant moments, mostly the parts that follow the book. Will add on to this later. 

Acting wise, this show help discover many actors who were unfamiliar to me before. Adding on to this but most prominently Zhang Wan Yi, whose playful and lively Yu Jin the seventh prince of the kingdom left a lasting impression.

追剧时觉得几个小故事很有意思，特别是二姐被家暴的埋尸案。令人印象深刻。演员们也演得很好。基本上剧里还原书中情节的部分如姜似抓姐夫和明月君主的‘’奸情‘’时，赏花宴，都不错。尤其喜欢侑锦的演绎，非常生动有趣。比我看书时想象的还好。很多细微的小表情和喜剧的加持都增添了看剧的乐趣。特别喜欢赏花宴那段。甚至剧本写得不太好的地方都通过演绎掩盖了剧本写得不足的部分。如姜似中毒和侑锦跪求皇帝收回赐婚的那段令我觉得张晚意演得非常好，特别有感染力。可惜很多改动都削弱主角们的魅力。还有最后长公主那段写得不好。虽然演员们都演得好，镜头和道具都美，但因为剧本的短板令人觉的没有信服力。非常可惜。但总的来说，这部剧还是好看的。

My Princess Review -Not completed

This Rom com is more than I expected. I went into it not expecting much but it end up providing many hours of joy and fun as well plenty of heart fluttering moments. The plot may be the "typical" poor heroine meets rich inheritor but the attention to detail given to the production and script, the witty and refreshing script, and amazing chemistry between Kim Tae Hee and Song Seung Heon make this romantic comedy way above average of the genre.

The Characters.

The male lead Pak Hae Yong(HY) played by Song Seung Heon is the perfect man - being an intelligent, handsome, rich grandson of a mega rich chaebol, he is also successful in his own career as a diplomat. Other characters in the show say that he is "humble, mature and dignified" The humble, matured and dignified diplomat turns out to be an adolescent whenever he is with the Princess, Kim Tae Hye's character in the show

Kim Tae Hye's character is a bubbly college student who found suddenly found out that she is the Princess of Korea. Kim Tae Hye is simply cute and adorable in this role and shows a good range of emotions. This is my first time watching her show and is quite surprise to read that she was frequently criticized for her lack of emotional range in other shows.


Episode 1-4
The first 4 episodes are breezy and fun. The plot moved very fast and is simply captivating

Episode 5-8
The reversal of roles and more funny moments -The characters start to realize their feelings for each other. Beginning of angst

Angst and more angst. Confessions

This episode is a joy to watch. We get plenty of cute, loving, and sweetness between HY and LS, plenty of funny moments and the plot line moves. I got a few surprises this episode....

Thoughts on this episode.

Love how this episode resolve the previous episode crisis of  HY & LS's relationship. HY seems to the proactive one here. His confession, confidence and "selfish"disregard of why he should stay away plus his  touching speech telling LS to hate him all she wants, just let him stay by her side starts to remove LS's reservation one by one. Bringing her friends over for a party and finally the apology on be half on his grand father, father and himself to the wrongs done to the royal family and her father, hence putting himself and his family at the risk of being shamed totally resolved her reservations about their relationship.

My Princess Episode 13

Wonderful loving and swoon moments at the beginning and end. The middle is more of tying up the loose ends with some satisfying scene on bad gals.

Favorite Cute/loving Moments

HY serves curry rice to the both of them(Hmmm I was thinking that he will be cooking some of the 5 kg of steak for dinner?)
HY:This is the best ever tasting curry rice in the world
LS: Is this Mr P's (Picking up a kids spoon from the utensils box.)

My Princess Episode 12

ah...just watch the raw and wow ...two surprises here.

HY's dad have tried to make contact after seeing the Advertisement about LS's dad

.At the end of episode 12, LS saw HY's dad come out of the house he brought her while he seems oblivious of it. Is that a fragment of LS's memory? Is HY's dad the uncle who loves to cry that LS talked about at the orphanage?

Thoughts

While some find that there is not much happening in this episode, I personally likes the development here both in the plot and in LS and HY's relation ship.
